We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you  the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. The companion cube is this item that you receive in the game Portal. You're given the task to take it wherever you go and love it, or something like that. But it gives you no benefits lol. Then you throw the cube into a pit of fire and the computer tells you that you killed your best friend. Throughout the game the computer taunts you about your sin lol.
I guess you could look at it as a quest item?
